As with any garment, details make a difference The first step in recognizing a quality jean is to look carefully at its fabric.

An example of detail synonymous with quality is the selvedge.
Selvedge denim or selvage denim is produced from 70 cm high pieces. The selvage is the “outer edge” of the fabric that runs the entire length of the piece, and its job is to prevent the pants from “unraveling.”
This is why the selvedge is not a style quirk but a feature that actually determines or does not determine the quality of a jean.
